As we move through life, one of our personal goals is to hold onto our childlike wonder like it’s our most treasured possession.  I will never forget this one TEDTalk I heard called “How to Slow Down the Passing of Time.”  The speaker, Jedidiah Jenkins, broke down the actual science behind why time seems to move slower as a child, then as you grow up, you blink and your days are gone.  It all comes down to losing our childlike wonder as we age.  As children, we pay attention to every moment.  We are constantly amazed as we expand our comfort zones, ask questions, and learn.  Our innocence and curiosity are the driving forces.  To rob a child of that… I can’t think of anything more criminal.

Approximately 300,000 children are abused and robbed of their innocence every year in the United States

“Child pornography” is a term that makes everyone feel a little uncomfortable, right?  I think it’s a normal, human response to squirm in your seat and try to pretend it doesn’t actually exist… but it’s time to talk about it.  It’s time to give these children a voice, especially when some are victimized at an age in which they haven’t even starting talking.  So what does child pornography mean? What kind of horrors do these children face?

“Victims are first sexually assaulted in order to produce the pornographic images, then victimized again when images of the sexual assault are shared over the Internet.  The proliferation of peer-to-peer networks permits this sharing to take place, which has in turn exploded both the number and egregiousness of offenses. The Internet provides easy, anonymous, on-demand access to child pornography and has created a deplorable secondary after-effect: Sex offenders not only use the Internet to distribute pornography, they stalk children, share information, and trade tips and techniques on how to seduce and lure them into sexual encounters.” -Child Rescue Coalition

Sexual exploitation is happening now.  Teenagers are victimized.  Youth are victimized.  Toddlers are victimized.  Infants are victimized.  Videos and images of assault, torture, penetration, and beastiality are being traded and viewed on the internet every single day.  To be more specific, Child Rescue Coalition collects and indexes 30-50 million files a day.

90% of children know their abusers.  Only 10% of children speak up.

We have the choice to speak up for them.  Thankfully, there are organizations that exist that are doing everything they can to cut off child pornography at the source.  Child Rescue Coalition is a Boca Raton, FL-based nonprofit organization that rescues children from sexual abuse by building technology for law enforcement, free of charge, to track, arrest, and prosecute child predators.  We work together to apprehend and convict abusers of children, rescue those in harm’s way, and importantly, seek to prevent abuse from happening in the first place.  They use the most advanced, comprehensive system in the world to expose the IP addresses of viewers and traders.  Since trading child pornography is a felony, law enforcement can use those IP addresses to find these criminals.  85% of viewers are currently or will become abusers, so it is crucial that these locations are searched.  Through partnering with small businesses like us, we can spread awareness to our readers as well as have the freedom to donate a % of our profits.

Child Rescue Coalition has rescued over 2,300 children and made over 9,800 arrests worldwide

Start talking.  Start spreading awareness.  Start being a voice for these children.  Let’s do it together!
